Customized Learning Solutions (CLS) is dedicated to helping individuals build strategies, systems, and skills that will help them achieve their goals in the most efficient way for them. Everyone has a unique set of strengths and challenges, and we firmly believe that the way you approach problems should take that individual profile into consideration.
With a comprehensive and multi-faceted approach, we help people of all ages fine tune their goals, create individualized plans for achieving them, and help execute those plans systematically with a signature mix of compassion, humor, and expertise.
CLS was founded by Shayla Whiteley, MA. Shayla is a Learning Specialist and received her Master’s in Learning Disabilities from Northwestern University as well as Bachelor’s degrees in Cognitive Psychology and Human Development from UC Davis. Shayla is trained in administering cognitive-educational assessments as well as remediating learning disabilities.
Shayla has worked as a classroom teacher, and served as a founding teacher at Sand Hill School, a school for students with learning challenges. She also served as the Manager of Educational Services at Children’s Health Council in Palo Alto.
Through classroom teaching, diagnostic testing, extensive training, and 12 years of tutoring experience, Shayla has worked with a wide variety of students and has developed many strategies and tricks. Her passion is getting to know the specific cognitive profile of an individual, and then tailoring her instruction to specifically capitalize on their strengths while teaching skills to exercise their weaknesses. She also believes in taking a team approach to support and loves collaborating with parents, teachers, and other professionals.
